The “Current Bills of Interest to Seniors” section of the ORANJ website has been updated to provide links to LeadingAge articles about the “Community Based Independence for Seniors Act” which is before both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The act would work to prevent the need for nursing home care by establishing a demonstration project using community based services such as adult day services, transportation, and meals for low income Medicare beneficiaries who need help with two or more activities of daily living.
The ORANJ website also provides links to New Jersey “bills of interest” such as A1385 which Increases filing threshold and the applicable exclusion amount for the New Jersey estate tax to $1,000,000.
